IPCC report: Greenhouse gas emissions accelerated in past decade

Greenhouse gas emissions grew almost twice as fast in the past decade as they did in the previous 30 years, bringing the world another step closer to a level of warming that could wreck havoc with the climate if humans don’t end their dependence on fossil fuels, says a shocking new report by the UN climate panel. The latest report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change — the third of three since September — calls for a drastic shift from fossil fuels like oil and coal to renewable energy to avoid rising sea levels and an increase in storms, flooding, droughts and other extreme weather.
