The Ballad of Greta Thunberg

YouTube player

Greta, Greta, your work will make our future better
She started in Sweden in her own homeland
To parliament she took her urgent demand
For all fossil fuels to be quite quickly banned
For life that we share on this earth

Greta, Greta, your work will make our future better
A girl of sixteen with her hair in two braids,
Told the United Nations she wasn’t afraid
Of being disliked. And her point was well-made
For life that we share on this earth

Greta, Greta, your work will make our future better
She said that the system just doesn’t make sense
For a few to get rich at the whole world’s expense
When all of our wealth should be used in defense
Of life that we share on this earth

Greta, Greta, your work will make our future better
She’s studied the science, you know that she’s smart
She speaks truth to power, she speaks from her heart
She’s my inspiration for doing my part
For life that we share on this earth

Greta, Greta, we’ll work for the future together
We’ll tell our world leaders the laws must be fair
And help everybody in need of repair
And treat our dear planet with well-informed care
For life that we share on this earth
