BREAKING: Anti-Pipeline Fighters Blockade: Calling to Stop Dirty Tar Sands Pipeline

BREAKING Right now, six courageous anti-pipeline fighters have blockaded the entrance to Kinder Morgan’s oil export terminal in Richmond, California calling for a stop to the expansion of the Kinder Morgan pipeline in western Canada.

Kinder Morgan wants to expand their pipeline across western Canada and triple the amount of tar sands crude mined from the Alberta tar sands impacting First Nations communities, diverse eco-systems and the climate.

Furthermore, Kinder Morgan would export tar sands crude from the pipeline to refinery facilities along the west coast of the U.S., including, potentially, the San Francisco Bay Area. In the Northern California refinery town of Richmond, California local communities are already being impacted by toxic air and unsafe refinery operations leading to an over 2,000 people in the Bay Area being killed by air pollution.

Finally, tar sands oil that this pipeline would carry is one of the most carbon intensive fuels on the planet. Studies show that the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion would add 8.8 metric tons of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere a year — making catastrophic climate change more of a reality every day.

In British Columbia, First Nations, environmentalists and other concerned residents are already mounting a fierce resistance to this pipeline. Now is the time for solidarity resistance to this, and other, dirty tar sands pipeline to escalate in the United States.

Please help us spread the word about the Kinder Morgan pipeline threatening all of our futures.
